SharePoint is used very often as a data store when creating business solutions with the Microsoft Power Platform. A main reason for this is related to licensing. The SharePoint connector is what is called a standard connector. Standard connectors can be used in canvas apps (Power Apps) and cloud flows (Power Automate) by users having a Microsoft 365 license which includes Power Apps and Power Automate. Most Microsoft 365 licenses do include them. Not all organizations enable them.
